Last Saturday, Hub and I attended a monthly music show called "Rockin' at the Roxy". It is at the old Roxy Theater in Russellville, Alabama, a small town about twenty miles south of Florence. The show starred my favorite local group, the KGB, and it was fantastic, as always. We got there a little bit early, and looked around town. We found this lovely old cemetery.
I haven't been able to find much information about the cemetery. I have never seen stones like this, and I think there must be a good story about how it was built. I going to go back with my sister-in-law, who spends much of her time 'looking for dead people' and has a vast knowledge of cemeteries.
The Sadler cemetery is a great example of how our burial customs have changed in the last century.
