Bluegrass Exhibition at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame

Yesterday, we attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new Bluegrass Exhibit at the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. There was a large mass of humanity there, including some good friends.  It was a special day. Love, love Claire Lynch! Several members of the Foster Family were there, including some who were not born when this photo was taken. Jake Landers, one of Alabama's greatest treasures, cut the ribbon.  Unfortunately, I was not able to get a good photo of the ribbon-cutting  because of the crowd.  This one was taken after the ceremony.  It is a beautiful exhibit, and we appreciate all the hard work that made it happen. The Alabama Music Hall of Fame  is located on Highway 72 West in Tuscumbia, Alabama.

Bluegrass on the Plains

From Thursday to Sunday last week, Hub and I were at Bluegrass on the Plains festival near Auburn, Alabama. It was at the University Station park and campground. There was no permanent shelter, but this giant awning provided shade. It didn't help much during the downpour Thursday night, when the show had to be cancelled because of a storm. The weather was great for the rest of the festival. There were too many musicians there to name them all, but here are some of my favorites: Chris Jones and the Night Drivers Claire Lynch  Russell Moore and IIIrd Tyme Out  Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder Bailey Mountain Cloggers Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver Rhonda Vincent and the Rage . . . and the sun goes down on another festival.
