He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. Psalm23.2
It is a noisy world.
There is apparently no escaping the clamor of traffic, people working, animals, television, music so loud it hurts, televisions, games, phones.....it just goes on and on.
Can you remember the last time you were in an environment that was perfectly quiet?
Where can we hide from all this babel?
We seek to hear God's voice. We beg Him when we pray....just send a word, Lord. Just tell me what to do. Please.
Perhaps, if you have surrendered your heart and are asking in wisdom, He is speaking. You just can't hear His voice because of the noise pollution around you.
I wonder....
Would you enjoy an intimate conversation with someone with music in their ears, listening to something else, not paying attention to you?
Would you want to explore deep concepts with someone on their way to work, giving you just a small percentage of their mind while they weave in and out of traffic and try to beat the light, hoping to get to work on time?
What would you think about someone coming to you with a question, then turning and leaving the room while you were trying to answer them?
To really hear God, or anyone else, you must be QUIET and you must be FOCUSED!
YOU must make the deliberate choice to turn all the outside noise OFF!
Then you can hear His voice.

Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Psalm4.4
It is so true that in silence we our Lord the best!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, thank you so much for sharing it with us.
I am waiting to hear the sweet voice of God today. "giving you just a small percentage of their mind." I am so guilty of only giving him a small percentage of me. I heard today a comment, "I may not have given Him all of me but I have all of Him." Focusing on giving Him all of me.
