Chewacla State Park

Chewacla State Park consists of 696 scenic areas just off I-85 near Auburn, Alabama. It is a beautiful pocket of nature that provides camping, walking trails, and programs throughout the year. This entrance sign is at 124 Shell Toomer Parkway, across the street from the Hampton Inn, where we were staying.  We were impressed with the park rangers who were very friendly and helpful, even though  I had a lot of questions. It was a hot day when we were there, and this camp provided a cool, beautiful place to rest.

DeSoto State Park

DeSoto State Park covers more than 3500 acrs, and borders the Little River.  It has a lodge, cabins, hiking, and more.  The most impressive part to me is the 104' DeSoto Falls. This park was developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC).  It is approximately eight miles northeast of Ft. Payne, Alabama.
