MISS MARY BOBO'S BOARDING HOUSE RESTAURANT

Yesterday (01/19/16), Jerry Sharp, Pam Sharp, Hub and I had dinner at Miss Mary Bobo's in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Lynchburg, with one traffic light and approximately 600 residents, is known worldwide as being the home of Jack Daniel's Distillery. Miss Mary and her husband had boarders in their house in downtown Lynchburg, and became known for the meals she prepared for them every day.  Soon, it was turned into a restaurant where guests sat at one table and passed the yummy bowls of food around just like they would do at home.  As they grew older, Miss Mary and her husband ceased having boarders, but the restaurant remained open.  The restaurant today, now owned by the Jack Daniels Corporation, is in the original house, although it has been renovated several times since it was built in the early 1800s. What Ya' Doing this Weekend?

The fourth weekend in October is a very popular one around here.  Looking for something to do? Try one of these:   The Nashville Flea Market :  A fun way to spend a beautiful fall day, rambling around this huge flea market at the fairgrounds.  We always enjoy it when we get to go, but the October market is the biggest and best one all year.  We usually buy a big bag of kettle corn when we get there and munch on it all day! Jack Daniels Barbecue Championship  in Lynchburg, Tennessee.  We have gone a few times and it is something to behold.  Almost all the competitors give out samples and sell their barbecue plates for lunch.  There are many other activities, and Lynchburg has several quaint little shops. Of course, you can tour the distillery while you are there.  Don't plan to eating at Miss Mary Bobo's Restaurant  unless you have booked reservations months ago.
