When I left the house to go to work one morning last week, this is what I saw among the jasmine vines climbing up the ironwork. I had not seen it the day before, so this mother must have worked quickly to get her house ready for her babies.
And aren't most mothers like that?
Yesterday morning, it looked like this.
Standing guard, but she has nothing to fear from us. I am a little concerned about the neighborhood cat that visits sometimes.
I hope they make it, and that you will see more pictures here when they hatch!
Precious, and I hope you'll be able to get photos of the babies.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Charlotte. I watch the mother through the window; if I open the door, she flies away. It is going to be fun watching.
ReplyDeleteI would be more concern about a snake... they love it when wrens build nest within reach.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even think about snakes! The mother flew off the nest when I went outside this morning and it is raining. I'll have to go out the back door so I won't disturb her so much.
DeleteOh I just love it-the eggs are such a pretty color!
ReplyDeleteMe, too, Tipper! I rarely get to see them up close like this.
DeleteHow sweet. They are such hard workers. I love watching eggs hatch and the babies grow. Sure hope the cat stays away.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful nest and eggs you were blessed with. I can't wait to see more pictures. I pray the kitty cat doesn't discover the nest.
