In addition to wonderful, wonderful books, the Florence Lauderdale Public Library provides a reading room upstairs where I meet once a month with other members of the book club to discuss what we have been reading.
Most months, we all read the same book. For April, we could read a Faulkner book or a book by a local author. I had just finished reading Light in August by William Faulkner, so I chose to read Bright Metal by T. S. Stribling. Bright Metal was set in Iron City, Tennessee, which is just a few miles from here. Stay tuned for more about Stribling later.
As usual, it was enlightening discussing books almost a hundred years old but so relevant today. I am so thankful to be a part of such a diverse group that share a love of reading. There is a slight problem--we recommend so many books to one another that we will never be able to read them all.
Thanks, Melissa, and all the gang for sharing your thoughts and heart with me. Can't wait until next month!
