Faith, Folklore, and Friends

Sunday afternoon, we went to Isom Orchards in Athens, Alabama, because the apples are ready. We met Baby Boy there and got to spend some time with him.  We sampled some apples and brought a few home with us. The apples are so good!  I think I'm tasting sunshine. . .

The Old Mill area of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, has shops, restaurants, and beautiful landscaping.   Last month while we were there, we were walking around in the Mill area, and happened upon a wedding by the Pigeon River. We stood on the bridge and watched the ceremony.  I don't have a clue who any of these people are, but they had a beautiful and unique wedding. I wonder why they chose this spot; there has got to be a good story behind it. This reinforces my harangue about always, always taking your camera when you go for a walk. I hope they live happily ever after.  

Another place we love in Pigeon Forge is The Island.  It is a newer place with restaurants, shops, and rides/games for the kids.  Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville is now open, and a hotel will open soon.  Paula Deen is also opening a restaurant there. It is always beautifully decorated, as you can see here. The Island has a huge Ferris Wheel that is lighted, and can be seen almost everywhere in Pigeon Forge.  It makes it easy to give directions; for example, the LeConte Center is right past the big wheel on Teaster. When we were there for Quiltfest in March, my lil' ole sister and a friend rode it.  I prefer to watch it from the ground. This is part of the new Margaritaville Hotel that will be opening soon. They have a large fountain with free water shows every thirty minutes. They even supply rocking chairs to rest in while you are watching the water shows. The last time we...
