Apple Fritters

When we got home from our recent road trip, I couldn't wait to try to make some peach fritters.  My friend, Linda, had shared a recipe for fritters, so I thought I would start there.  Unfortunately, I didn't have any fresh preaches, so I tried apple fritters instead. Here is what you will need: 1 cup all purpose flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 3/4 teaspoon salt, 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/3 cup milk, 1 egg, 1 cup chopped apple, and powdered sugar to sift on top when they are done.  Mix the dry ingredients together. The Apple Barn

When we stay in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, we always eat at the Apple Barn. Everyone is served these apple fritters with apple butter.  They are wonderful.  Their other food is good, but nothing extraordinary. We love it because it is such a beautiful and unique place. They were decorated for fall when we were there a couple of weeks ago. They have a general store where everything is apple based, a winery, a Christmas store, a candy store, and a place where you can watch them make fantastic fried apple pies.  And they have apples.  Lots and lots of apples. The best thing about our last visit is that we got to share the time with good friends. Are you hungry yet?
